Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Anchoris is a local-first workspace app for Mac. This Privacy Policy explains what information Anchoris collects, what stays on your device, and how you can contact us.
Anchoris is currently in early access and is free to use for now. This policy reflects the current version of the product.
Plain English Summary
Anchoris is designed around a simple principle: your work should start on your own device.
- Your workspace files stay on your Mac by default.
- Anchoris does not sell your personal information.
- Anchoris does not use your local workspace files to train AI models.
- Website signups, account sign-in, support emails, and optional connected services may involve limited information.
- If you choose to connect a third-party service, that service may process information according to its own policy.
- If Anchoris adds optional cloud AI or diagnostics in the future, those features should be visible and intentional rather than hidden in the background.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- The Anchoris website at anchoris.app
- The Anchoris Mac app
- Anchoris early access, waitlist, download, and support flows
- Communications you send to Anchoris
This policy does not apply to third-party websites, services, model providers, calendar providers, authentication providers, or other external services that you choose to use with Anchoris. Those services are governed by their own policies.
2. Local-First Workspace Data
Anchoris is designed to work with a local workspace folder on your Mac.
Your workspace may include notes, files, projects, documents, canvases, metadata, links, local indexes, and other work materials that you create or choose to store in that folder.
By default, Anchoris does not upload your local workspace files to Anchoris servers.
Anchoris may create local data on your device to make the app work, such as:
- A local workspace index
- File and project metadata
- Local search data
- Recent workspace and recent file state
- Local app settings
- Local AI Pack state
- Local relationship and reference data
- Local calendar or rhythm-related app data, if enabled
This local data is intended to help Anchoris understand your workspace on your Mac. It is not the same as data being uploaded to Anchoris.
3. Website, Waitlist, and Download Data
When you visit the Anchoris website, join the waitlist, download the app, or submit a form, we may receive limited information such as:
- Your email address
- The page or form you submitted
- Basic browser or device information
- Basic server logs, such as IP address, timestamp, and request metadata
- Information you voluntarily include in a message
We use this information to:
- Provide the website
- Manage the waitlist
- Share product updates
- Understand whether the website is working
- Respond to messages
- Improve Anchoris
We do not sell this information.
4. Account and Authentication Data
Anchoris may require sign-in for early access or app use.
When you sign in, authentication may be handled by a third-party authentication provider. Depending on the sign-in method you choose, limited account information may be processed, such as:
- Email address
- Authentication tokens
- Provider account identifier
- Sign-in status
- Session information
On the Mac app, Anchoris is designed to store authentication sessions securely using the system Keychain where possible.
Anchoris does not need your local workspace files in order to authenticate your account.
5. App Data Stored on Your Device
The Anchoris Mac app may store information locally on your device to provide its core functionality, including:
- Workspace location
- Recently opened files
- Open tabs or recent session state
- Project membership and relationship data
- Local index and search data
- App preferences
- Local AI Pack installation or readiness state
- Local calendar sync state, if you connect a calendar provider
- Local reminders or rhythm-related state, if enabled
This data is stored locally to help Anchoris restore context and make your workspace usable.
Because Anchoris is local-first, you are responsible for keeping your own backups of important files and workspace data.
6. AI Features
Anchoris may include local AI features, such as local workspace search, summaries, project briefs, and question answering over selected workspace context.
For the current local-first experience:
- Anchoris does not use your local workspace files to train AI models.
- Anchoris does not sell your workspace content.
- Anchoris is designed so workspace understanding starts locally.
- AI-generated output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected, and should be reviewed by you.
Some AI features may depend on local model software or optional external providers. If you choose to use an external AI provider, the selected content sent to that provider may be processed according to that provider’s own terms and privacy policy.
Anchoris should make the boundary clear when selected workspace context leaves your device.
7. Optional Integrations
Anchoris may allow you to connect optional services, such as calendar providers, authentication providers, or other productivity tools.
If you connect an external service, Anchoris may receive or store limited information needed to make that integration work, such as:
- Connection status
- Access or refresh tokens
- Calendar names or identifiers
- Calendar events or metadata needed for display
- Provider account information
Where possible, sensitive tokens are stored securely using the system Keychain.
You can choose not to connect optional integrations. If you disconnect a service, Anchoris may stop syncing new information from that service, although previously stored local app data may remain on your device unless removed through app settings or manual deletion.
Third-party integrations are governed by the policies of those third-party providers.
8. Support and Communications
If you contact Anchoris for support, we may collect the information you choose to send, such as:
- Your email address
- Your message
- Screenshots or attachments you provide
- App version or device details you include
- Any diagnostic information you voluntarily share
Please avoid sending sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your support request.
You can contact Anchoris at sayhi@anchoris.app.
9. Diagnostics and Analytics
Anchoris may use limited website analytics or server logs to understand whether the website is working and to improve the product.
The current product philosophy is to keep diagnostics limited, transparent, and respectful of the local-first nature of the app.
If Anchoris introduces optional crash reporting, product analytics, or diagnostics in the app, those features should be described clearly and should not be used to upload your local workspace files without your knowledge.
10. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide and improve Anchoris
- Operate the website
- Manage downloads, waitlists, and early access
- Authenticate users
- Provide support
- Maintain security
- Understand product issues
- Communicate important updates
- Comply with applicable obligations
11. What We Do Not Do
Anchoris does not:
- Sell your personal information
- Claim ownership of your local workspace files
- Use your local workspace files to train AI models
- Upload your workspace files to Anchoris servers by default
- Read your private local workspace files for advertising
12. Data Retention
Local workspace data remains on your device unless you delete it, move it, or remove the Anchoris workspace data from your Mac.
Website, account, waitlist, and support information may be retained for as long as needed to provide Anchoris, respond to requests, maintain records, improve the product, and protect the service.
You may contact us to request deletion of information associated with your email address.
13. Your Choices
You can choose to:
- Not join the waitlist
- Not connect optional integrations
- Not send support attachments
- Delete local workspace files from your Mac
- Remove the Anchoris app from your device
- Request deletion of account-related or email-related information by contacting us
Some local data may remain on your Mac until you delete the relevant files, app data, or workspace folder.
14. Security
Anchoris uses reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. For example, the Mac app is designed to use the system Keychain for certain sensitive session or provider tokens where possible.
No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your Mac, your workspace folder, and your connected accounts.
15. Children’s Privacy
Anchoris is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to Anchoris, please contact us at sayhi@anchoris.app.
16. International Users
Anchoris may be accessed by users in different countries. If you use Anchoris from outside the place where the service is operated, your information may be processed in other locations where service providers operate.
We aim to handle personal information responsibly and in line with the local-first design of the product.
17. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Anchoris evolves.
If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and may provide additional notice through the website or app.
