Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026
These Terms of Service govern your use of Anchoris, including the Anchoris website and the Anchoris Mac app.
Anchoris is currently provided as an early access product and is free to use for now.
By using Anchoris, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Anchoris.
1. What Anchoris Is
Anchoris is a local-first workspace app for Mac. It is designed to help you organize, understand, and continue your work across files, projects, time, and local context.
Anchoris may include features such as:
- Local workspace indexing
- File and project views
- Local search
- Work maps and relationships
- Notes, canvases, and document editing
- Local AI-assisted summaries or question answering
- Calendar or rhythm-related features, if enabled
- Optional integrations with external services
Anchoris is not a cloud storage provider, backup service, legal service, financial service, medical service, or professional advice provider.
2. Eligibility
You may use Anchoris only if you are legally able to agree to these Terms.
Anchoris is not intended for children under 13.
3. Your Account
Anchoris may require sign-in to access the app, early access builds, downloads, or certain features.
You are responsible for:
- Providing accurate account information
- Keeping your account secure
- Maintaining access to your email or sign-in provider
- Any activity that occurs through your account
If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us at sayhi@anchoris.app.
4. License to Use Anchoris
Subject to these Terms, Anchoris gives you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the Anchoris app for your own work.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or distribute Anchoris except as allowed by law or by written permission
- Reverse engineer Anchoris except where such restriction is prohibited by law
- Use Anchoris to build a competing product by copying its design, functionality, or non-public behavior
- Remove proprietary notices from the app
- Use Anchoris in a way that violates these Terms
5. Your Content and Local Workspace
You keep ownership of the files, notes, projects, documents, canvases, and other content you create, import, or store in your local Anchoris workspace.
Anchoris does not claim ownership of your local workspace content.
You are responsible for your content, including:
- Ensuring you have the right to use it
- Keeping your own backups
- Deciding what to store in your workspace
- Reviewing AI-generated or app-generated output before relying on it
- Complying with laws and third-party rights
Anchoris may create local metadata, indexes, references, and derived app data to make your workspace usable. These are part of the app’s functionality and do not give Anchoris ownership of your original content.
6. Backups and Local Responsibility
Anchoris is local-first. This means your work begins on your own Mac and in your own workspace folder.
Anchoris is not a backup service.
You are responsible for maintaining backups of important files, notes, projects, and workspace data. You should use your own backup method, such as Time Machine, external storage, version control, or another backup system.
Anchoris is not responsible for lost files, deleted content, workspace corruption, disk failure, sync conflicts, operating system issues, or other local data loss.
7. AI Features and Output
Anchoris may include AI-assisted features, including local AI features or optional integrations with external model providers.
AI features may generate output that is inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, misleading, or not suitable for your situation.
You are responsible for:
- Reviewing AI-generated output
- Deciding whether to use it
- Verifying important information
- Avoiding reliance on AI output for professional, legal, medical, financial, safety-critical, or high-stakes decisions
Anchoris does not guarantee that AI-generated output will be correct, complete, safe, or appropriate.
Anchoris does not use your local workspace files to train AI models.
If you choose to use an external AI provider or connected service, the selected content sent to that provider may be handled under that provider’s own terms and privacy policy.
8. Optional Integrations and Third-Party Services
Anchoris may allow you to connect third-party services, such as authentication providers, calendar providers, local model tools, or other productivity services.
Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms and policies. Anchoris is not responsible for third-party services, including their availability, security, accuracy, data handling, pricing, or behavior.
You are responsible for deciding whether to connect third-party services and what information to make available to them.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Anchoris to:
- Violate any law or regulation
- Infringe intellectual property, privacy, or other rights
- Upload, store, or process content that you do not have the right to use
- Distribute malware or harmful code
- Attempt to disrupt, abuse, or compromise Anchoris or related services
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation
- Use Anchoris for surveillance, harassment, exploitation, or harm
- Circumvent access controls, authentication, or security systems
- Use automated methods to abuse the website or related services
10. Early Access and Free Use
Anchoris is currently an early access product and is free to use for now.
Early access software may change, break, lose features, contain bugs, or behave unexpectedly. Features may be added, removed, redesigned, limited, or discontinued.
You understand that Anchoris is still evolving and may not be suitable for critical workflows without your own backups and review.
11. Updates and Changes to the Product
Anchoris may release updates, fixes, improvements, or new versions.
Some updates may be required for security, compatibility, or continued access to certain features. We may change or discontinue parts of Anchoris at any time.
We aim to improve Anchoris while respecting its local-first design, but we do not guarantee that any feature will remain available forever.
12. Intellectual Property
Anchoris, including its name, design, software, website, branding, logos, product experience, and related materials, is owned by the creator of Anchoris or its licensors.
These Terms do not give you ownership of Anchoris or its intellectual property.
You may not use the Anchoris name, logo, branding, or product materials in a way that suggests endorsement, partnership, or affiliation without permission.
13. Feedback
If you send ideas, suggestions, bug reports, feature requests, or other feedback, you allow Anchoris to use that feedback to improve the product without obligation to compensate you.
You still own your own original content. Feedback is different from your private workspace files.
14. Support
You can contact Anchoris at sayhi@anchoris.app.
We may provide support by email or through other channels. Support availability is not guaranteed, especially during early access.
Please avoid sending sensitive information unless it is necessary for your request.
15. Termination
You may stop using Anchoris at any time.
We may suspend or terminate access to Anchoris or related services if we believe you have violated these Terms, created risk, abused the service, or used Anchoris in a harmful or unlawful way.
Because Anchoris is local-first, deleting your account or losing access to related services does not necessarily delete files stored locally on your Mac. You are responsible for managing local files and app data on your device.
16. Disclaimers
Anchoris is provided “as is” and “as available.”
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Anchoris makes no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, reliability, or error-free operation.
Anchoris does not guarantee that:
- The app will always work
- Files will never be lost or corrupted
- Search results or AI output will be accurate
- Integrations will remain available
- The app will meet your specific requirements
- Bugs or security issues will never occur
You use Anchoris at your own risk.
17. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Anchoris and its creator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, business opportunity, or work product.
This includes damages arising from:
- Use of or inability to use Anchoris
- Lost or corrupted local files
- Workspace or index issues
- AI-generated output
- Third-party services
- Unauthorized access
- Bugs, downtime, or product changes
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the total liability of Anchoris and its creator for any claim related to Anchoris will be limited to the amount you paid to use Anchoris in the twelve months before the claim. Because Anchoris is currently free to use, that amount may be zero.
Some places do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
18. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Anchoris and its creator from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from:
- Your use of Anchoris
- Your content
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of laws or third-party rights
- Your use of third-party services with Anchoris
19. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as Anchoris evolves.
If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and may provide additional notice through the website or app.
Your continued use of Anchoris after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
